So are the markings still there? Brand new trailer. Where would they be?
My trailers have always been used when bought. Marks long gone. Few owners ever go to much trouble with RV's (heck, cars; this is where a lot of us once learned this) and wheel balance, alignment, etc, isn't even regarded as worthwhile, much less necessary.

I second the notice about lug nut torque (a good topic to read on here at AIR). I bought a dedicated torque wrench to use for this. Trailer never moves without a quick go-over.

Thanks for the reminder. I have bought a torque wrench to keep with the trailer and I went over it after installing the tire back on.

That depends on what kind of wheels you have.

Steel or mags?

Not steel wheels, thought they were aluminum....2006 Classic 31. The demo on Centramatic's website really sells the product!! It is on the wishlist, and I think MDH has it on the TOP of the list...I believe we will be calling them soon....then there's the TPMS, the surge protector, etc...

Hi, Airstream drums may be better than they used to be, but are still not balanced. The 12" drums are heavy. Look at any car or truck drums and you will see either grind marks, drill marks, or metal tabs welded onto their brake drums for balancing purposes. You won't find any indication of balancing on Airstream trailer drums. Therefore I chose to run Centramatics.

Andy,
I always look for your replys to questions for an honest and knowledgable answer. Apparently in your opinion Centramatic's are effective. Can a novice install them or do they need to be installed by someone with experience?
Thanks for all of your help.

If you've ever changed a tire, you can install them. Take off wheel, slide Centramatic disk onto lugs, replace wheel, torque lug nuts. That's all there is to it. The hardest part for some might be getting the wheel off the ground.

Thats's it, easier done than said.

The only thing that must be done however, is to make sure the outer ring faces the hub, instead of the wheel.
