Whre is the mfg date code on tire?

We have looked all over our tires and cannot find a 4 digit # that is supposed to be the date code. Is it possibly on the back of the tire? We bought one new one last year because it has a nail in it but the others were on the trailer when we bought it last year. They look really good and have caused no problems, but I still want to know how old they are.

The 4 digit number is prefaced with a DOT designator.

When I was looking for new tires for our TT I came across a set where the date, while clearly marked, was in the innermost part of the bead.

Result: you could read the date before the tire was mounted, and not when it was.

I immediately rejected this brand out of hand, due to what smacked as semi-shady tactics to me.

I am suspicious of these tires even though they look good and we have had no issues with them on the road. When we bought the trailer it had not been licensed since '00 even though it did change hands at least once during that time period. When we go down to work on it now We will finally be able to check the date.

if there is white lettering you should find the dating on the blackwall side. i always turn the white letter side,in, but that's my choice.

On my Marathons the date code was on the 'back' side of the tires.
