What tire to replace Tow Masters

I have long used Tow Master ST 225 75 15 tires on my trialer with vry good results but they have now moved the molds to China. Since I am not interested in joining the Class Action Law Suit against Chinese tires what is a good replacement?

I am not interesed in up sizing the wheels at this point so comments should be kept to 15 in wheels.

Are the Towmasters radials or bias, and do you have a preference?

Radials. I suspect Bias belts would not last lomg on a tri axle. The rear radial takes a beating as is.

Hold on there!

Where did you hear that Towmasters were now Chinese?

I realize that if you visit Toronto or Vancouver you may think its China....but, Towmaster remains Canadian....as far as I know. I use 'em, and I like 'em.

I needed a tire last Feb while on the road and called Greeball the distributor for a local stocking dealer. They told me the molds had been shipped from Canada to China. When I called today they confirmed that the only tires now available were from China.

It's entirely possible. Everthing is moving to China...

Replacment Tires

Try a set of Cooper Custom Trailer Plus tires.
If you can find them, they should work well.

My first 2 sets of tires were Canadian Tow Masters, and I got 40,000 miles out of each set. Very good wear, very satisfied.

I now have 15,000 on Canadian Marathons.

I don't no what I'll do next?

First post

Just purchased Cooper Custom Trailer Plus ST225/75R15 from TireSavings.com. They are due to arrive on Thursday. Couldn't find them locally. They are rated for 2540# (load range D) and speed rated to 112mph. Most ST tires are only rated for 65mph -- didn't want to take the chance. Hope they work out, 'cause they're not cheap. Geo...

Keep up posted. The specs on those tires were impressive.
The main reasons I went with the Commercial T/As and 16 inch wheels was the availability and the fact that Goodrich is owned outright by Michelin and those tires are now made by Michelin. But it was costly.
