Variations in Carlisle bias ply tread lug height

I am seeing some variation in tread lug height on my Carlisle Sport Trail LT 700-15LT bias ply tires. As much as 1/4" in some cases as (hopefully) can be seen in the attached picture. The tires are probably about a year or so old and I have put approximately 2k miles on them since I purchased my 1968 Safari 22 in April. Miles were on original axle which is in the process of being replaced.

Is this a normal part of the tread pattern or some kind of wear issue that I need to be concerned about? I was planning on switching to radials but not until next year.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Is it occurring all the way around the tire?

Yes I believe so (it is actually at a repair facility now) and interestingly it is only on one tire and not both.

All the way around, overinflation is indicated. Feathering/flat spots in the heavy area of the tire= balance and or shock problem.

This wear pattern is typical of bias ply tires and is the reason they don't last as long as radials.

This is also a symptom of a tire being loaded near or over its maximum load carrying capacity - and aggravated by a bit of mis-alignment.
