Valve stem replacement

I had a flat tire go unnoticed all winter while the Argosy sat. I filled it and never seemed to loose pressure. I took it to a tire repair shop and he showed me that the stem bubbled when moved. How common is this? He replaced for $20.

Guess what? Just happened to me. Getting ready to go "Camping". Flat tire noticed as I was topping up the air from sitting a while. In FL paid $9.00 for the valve replacement, I brought the tire to them.

We replaced our rubber valve stems with metal valve stems after we had a flat from a stem failure while using tire pressure monitors that attach to the valve stems. I believe the TPM system added to the flexing and stress to the rubber stem. For those using TPM systems that attach to the stems, I'd recommend metal replacements. In fact, I'd recommend them in general the next time you get new tires.

$20 is ripoff to replace stem unless used metal stems next time use metal bolt in stem no leaks less or chance of damage, this stem is used on aluminum wheels
