If you look on the tire, near the bead where the wheel meets the tire, you will see a series of letters and numbers that will end in a three or foour digit number in a separate square. If you have three digits in the square, you should probably replace the tires, since they were made in 1999 or before, and are close to the end of their useful life.
The four digit code is for the week and year the tire was manufactured.
A tire made the first week of 2001 would have a code of "0101".
A tire made earlier this year would have, say, "1206". Fresher is better.

replaced my hercules 7.00x15 bias plys w/ goodyear marathon st 225 75r15's. i like the looks of the bias ply tires better and they are taller. haven't driven enough miles to like one or the other better. it is all a matter of opinion. buy what you like.

I use 700-15 bias ply tires with that rugged look .Thats what I want ,the look that Im after.I run hercules tires with 4 sidewall plys and 5 tread plys ,thats the construction and they are not "ply rated" as many are ,meaning that they have less plys such as 2 sidewall and3 tread plys but are RATED as a 8 ply in strength.I have used greenball towmasters with no problems ,looked rugged also,Their D range tire was less rugged looking ,so I got the hercules D range.
These tires are listed as LT ,as all the bias ply 700-15s will be .Im very happy with them . have not had any trouble with them .I only offer my experience with these tires and hope that this helps.

good tire luck!
