TV tires too old?

The Michelin LTX, Load Range E tires on my Suburban have over 50,000 miles on them, and still have usable tread left. Problem is I had them installed about eight years ago.

While the tires do have the usual surface cracks, they do not necessarily look like an accident waiting to happen.

What's your opinion? These are stiff tires made by a reputable company. Should I replace them simply because they are eight years old?

Thanks,
Tom

YES !

If you lose a tire at speed while towing you could ruin your whole trip, not to mention the TV and the trailer. 8 year old tires should not be on the road IMHO, especially if they show signs of cracking. The stresses placed on the tire in towing or accident avoidance could cause a catastrophic failure.

Thanks Brett; I think I knew the answer, but just wanted someone who does not sell tires to verify it.

Replace

I use the same tires on my Burb. I usually figure on 55,000 for a set. I'm very pleased with the performance of the tires. I have a pair on the rear of my TV that should be replaced but they are only a 18 months old. Of course I'm going to replace them because I need better tread on the truck for the winters we see here in NH.

Get new tires.

Mark

hehehe I'm in the same boat with the same tires. I was just telling my wife we need to replace them before the next big trip.
Costco has the Michelins for $151 each mounted last I checked.
They also have the BFG Comercial for $110. BFG is owned by Michelin and pretty good quality tire. I'm running BFG and Michelins on every thing I own excpeth the 4 runner. It has what was on it when I bought it but looking at used BFG's for it.
