For three years I've had constant feedback on tire pressure. My rule of thumb is to add air if a tire is three pounds low from temperature or altitude change. I'm confident that the Doran will give some warning if a tire is losing pressure while underway or if the tire is heating up from a mechanical malfunction. A TPMS is a must-have accessory. I'd put the Michelins and 16-inch wheels in the nice-to-have category.
I had been looking for a 16" Michelin blowout and no doubt would find one, thanks for posting. However that does look a lot like the stock 15" Classic wheels?

Having used a TPMS and the 16" I would have to place the tire upgrade way ahead of TPMS for peace of mind. Both would be ideal I suppose but they are clunky to me (and I'm due for $200 worth of sensor replacements).

I could give someone a great deal on a very lightly used Doran TPMS if interested.

If you ever do have a blowout without some type of TPMS system you may change your opinion. Our $259 TTS system would have saved us a $500 repair bill. We were lucky it wasn't worse. For me, I wouldn't travel in an Airstream without one. I had two relatively new Maxim tires which are highly rated blow before I installed my monitoring system.

The Dill system sold at Tire Rack is a great system for the money. The sensors are on the inside of the wheels and are part of the metal valve stems.Metal valve stems are a must for Airstream applications. This system gives you internal temperature and psi in real time for 4 tires and goes to sleep when not moving or in storage.
Cheap insurance

A friend of mine who is a mechanic at a local dealership has seen several valve stems torn due to the valve stem mounted TPMS sensors.

If I added a TPMS system it would only be an inside mount system!

I have the Dill system from TireRack and I really like it. I like that it is internal and does real time pressure and temp. I have mine for a few years and no problems. I put them on when I switched to 16" wheels and Michelin tires. I should also add that I was horrified when I took the 15" Marathons off and found that 3 of the 4 tires had tread separation, were lumpy and the treads were wavy. I had noticed the trailer was handling bad and the new wheels/tires were an amazing improvement.

I use the TireTraker system. Its the same design as two or three other companies such as Hawkshead. I didn't find the programming too difficult but it required reading the owners manual a few times to get the hang of it. One of the sensors went bad on me and the company shipped a replacement ASAP with a self addressed stamped envelope. The new sensor has been find so far.

I had the Hawkshead and didn't like it. When I ordered the 16" Michelin's from Tire Rack I ordered the Dill setup and REALLY like it. Very easy set up and having a constant visual on tires is very comforting. Think a TPMS ought to as mandatory for a TT as it is for a car.

Ditto. After having a flat (somehow we found a BIG nail) we got the Hawkshead. So far, so good.

I went with the flow thru sensors- they work excellent....
