I have two new 15" aluminum wheels with good year marathoners mounted on them if you need two tires.

Check the classifieds.

I have read some of the tire threads and have become crosseyed and babbling. When I don't know an answer, it's hard to separate opinions (bad ones) from facts and "factoids" (Norman Mailer's word for things that look like facts, but aren't).

For the record, my new Safari's Marathons appear to be Canadian (hard to read all those little black on black words on the tire). On the threads, some report problems with Canadian tires too. Airstream claims as of last week there are no recalls on Marathons.

I have no idea what makes a trailer tire different from a truck tire (LT). If LT's are better than trailer tires, I will replace with same when the time comes (I don't know what that time is either). Any good opinions or even facts on LT vs. trailer tires?

Gene

The Goodyear Marathons have stronger side walls that LT tires.

Also the composition of the rubber used in the Marathons, is better than the LT's, permitting them to last much longer from exposure to UV.

Opinions ......... mine is

If it's black, round and rated to do the job I buy it when I need them. I usually buy tires to put on a vehicle to go from point A to point B. The purpose is to get to point B.

I usually find maintence is where I spend the most effort on tires. Making sure the pressure is correct. Inspect for tire damage frequently. Rotate and balance them as needed. The tires I frequently have issues with have either old age or over 50% wear on them.

Installing them and washing them once a year doesn't get it for me.

I replaced my Marathons/rims with 16" Mitchlin LTX (D) range tires. Will let you know when I have a blow out.
