Tpms
Wondering what kind of tpms everyone has. I have a Hawkshead and I hate it. I can not get the hang of setting it.
We have monitors in all our tractors, sprayers and combine, I have no problem with them but this Hawkshead has me buffaloed.
My great nephew got it set for me once but when I need to change it I am out of luck. Why would I need to change you ask. Because when you set the pressure in cooler climates then go to warmer ones it tells you your tires are getting hot when they are not. Also your tire pressure will climb when going to warmer climates and then your pressure is to high.
I ruined a tire just East of Nashville last summer because that sensor had no reception at that time.
I want something that works and doesn't take a teenager to set.

TST, it works as advertised.

After the one we had being an expensive pain in the rear, and after trading for a tandem axle Airstream upgraded to Michelin 16' tires, we decided the simplest solution was no TPMS.
Perhaps we should have one after nearly five years and many cross-country trips, but we're not convinced. Perhaps when they develop the trailer offerings beyond the gadget stage we'll take another look.

The Hawkshead system and TST system appear to be based on the same reference design. The specifications are identical, panel layout is the same, buttons the same, sensors the same, etc. So it's likely that any identified shortcomings in one system would be present in the other.

Have installed the Dill 1506-453 TPMS system senders in both the 23D and the Classic tires along with the mounting of the Michelin 15" tires on the 23D and the Michelin 16" tires on the Classic.
The only challenge was that CostCo failed to mark the 16" tires with the letter of the sender in side, so they had to break the tires down to get that information. Each tire data sender mounted as the tire valve mechanism has a matching receiver chip that goes into the proper socket in the display.
Due to senioritis, I have had to call Dill on occasion to get my mental hard drive refreshed on how to do something when on the road and they have always been very helpful.
Now where are my glasses???????

Used to have the TST old version.
It appeared to be working OK, then had a tread separation on a GYM. Tire didn't explode, just increased in diameter by about 2-3". Didn't set off PSI alarm.
Not running any TPMS since upgrading to 16" LTX, and I'm good with that.

For the Dill interior mount sensors, how do you know what size valve stems to select, the 0.453" or the 0.625"?
Thanks

At least in both the 15" T03-56545T and 16" SenDel T03-66655T wheels, we installed the 453 size.

For TPMS I have the TireTraker. Our model is the TT-400. Since I have a 30' trailer I also got the signal relay that I hardwired into the battery box. They are easy to program and pretty care free.
There is a new model TT-500, which looks to be a color screen instead of B&W. I prefer the B&W, no need to have all of that light in the truck.
I have never had the TPMS alarm go off, so I don't know if it is needed. Hopefully it will stay that way. I have 15" Michelins on the AS.
Good luck.

Just bought a TST based on info from this forum. I have not installed it yet, I need to change to metal valve stems first. First trip with it Memorial Day so will be checking it out.
