Dznf0g - I'm so tempted by centramatics or the ceramic beads (which according to TST won't be a problem with my internal sensors).
I had these installed together with the new Michelins and as a whole that's what got balanced.

I have rubber stems and no TPMS yet. I purchased metal valve stem extenders for easier air checking/filling and found exactly the same thing - marks all over the wheels from the extenders swinging all over. I will be getting metal stems eventually.

I was reviewing the information I found for the TST tire system. I would like to know if these sensors need to be mounted internal to the tire or external on the valve stem. I think I saw both but am not sure.
I like the concept that they will monitor truck and trailer together and yet separately as needed. Some of us have trucks without their own sensing system.
Thanks all,

I think these are the ones I got. After calling Tire Rack and Summit Racing, with no luck. The issue here is my Sendel wheels have a small diameter recess in the face of the stem hole, so I needed the ones with both lock nuts on the inside, rather than one outside and one inside. The .453 hole is the one I needed (I hope....some guessing here as I was measuring with current wheels assembled)

The internal mounted TSTs I got we're attached to metal stems out of the box.
By the way - I sound like an ad for TST but I have no affiliation with them other than being a happy customer...

I mounted the Dill system 18 months ago when I went to the 16" wheels and Michelin LT's. It works perfectly, and after towing around 20,000 miles I couldn't be more satisfied.

Did you report the valve failures to NHTSA? This is clearly a safety related failure of automotive part.

Two things I considered before buying my external TPMS.
1. Warranty (I have 3 years)
2. Replaceable batteries. ( I prefer spending $2 to spending $40)
Simple Google search then look at the details. Mine also give warning with both rapid and slow air leak.

I note a number of comments on sensors or extenders "flopping around".
Remember the standard low cost "snap-in" rubber valves are rated 60 psi MAX.
Rubber in valves ages like rubber in tires so you should ALWAYS replace the valve or rubber o-ring part of bolt in valves whenever you change tires.
Rubber valves are not designed to have stuff hung on the end so if you use either extenders or TPMS you should use bolt in metal valves.
I don't even think "high pressure" snap in rubber valves would be best with external TPMS.
I believe that most TT have passenger size valve holes not truck tire size valve holes so be sure you get the correct valve.
I have even written a few posts just on valves and others just on TPMS on my blog.

I guess there are +&- to all the various systems, internal sensors are most likely more accurate and reliable, but no replaceable batteries and they are transmitting even with the tires off, in the basement, for Winter storage.
(POI...in this regard, my OEM Burb sensors are 7yrs old and still going strong, maybe I will get around to installing the spares in the AS. )
External sensors can find legs and walk or get lost, but are more easily replaced, and removing can extend battery life.

My .02$.
I installed Dill internal sensors when I got the my tire issues a couple of years ago, for me works just fine. Only area that I'd ask Dill for an update on is the readout and its cumbersome mounting.
Hope to get 16's next year and I would get the Dill again.

We installed the Dill TPMS when we bought our trailer, two years ago. I mounted the TPMS display below the dash over the transmission hump. I mounted it in that location to keep it out of the sun. Bright sun light makes the display hard to read. Other wise the system has worked great.

Replaceable batteries in external mount sensors are known to leak water into them...as Robert says + & - to each kind. My Doran notifies both slow and rapid loss..the rapid loss notification is what I got with my stem failures.
