What it is telling me is that (455 respondents after I answered it) 234 other Airstream owners (51.65%) are towing their trailers at a speed that represents 100% (65 mph) to 108% (70 mph) to 115% (75 mph and above) of their ST tires design and tested capabilities and complaining about the tire failures.
You all have a choice, slow down or go to a more capable rated tire.
You've bought the best, most durable piece of RV equipment available. Why take a chance on tearing it up with tires that do not have the capability of withstanding our present driving habits?
The choice is ours.

I have read over the post an am now considering going to 16" alloy wheels for Lucy. This opens up a whole new world of D and E tires that are actually worth a hoot.

Took the advice (before the advice was given ) and went with better tires. 16" alloy rims with BF Goodrich Commercial T/A 225/75-16 10 ply LRE tires. Couldn't be happier. 1250 miles on them so far....GREAT! Same size tires I use on the Sprinter. They can take the weight and sure can take the speed (70+).
I also use Ride-On self-balancing tire sealant and Pressure Pro tire monitors.

Was gassing the TV the other afternoon, and did my usual walkaround looking at dings, tire profile, washer fluid level.... etc....
Noticed that there is SIGNIFICANT checking/ cracking in the sidewall of the rear tires.... they are about 14K old - less than 1 year.
Some of them are about 1 inch in length (depth yet to be checked) but this SERIOUSLY concerns me as I have a BIG cross country trip with family and household goods planned in the next 3 weeks - NO DOWNTIME allowed!!!! Places to GO!!! poeple to SEE!!!! and a house to go occupy! Schedule reigns on this one!!!?!!!!
Back to the tires, these are CostCo tires, and they are usually pretty good about repairs and prorating and the like.... Michelins BTW!
Am SERIOUSLY considering going back to the OEM tire (Goodrich Steel-Tech's) if there is any kind of $'s coming my way from the CostCo folks. We'll see, and I'll be sure to post results.

Here are my BF Goodrich Commercial T/As (LRD) and new 16 inch rims.
And likewise no problems. Not even loosing air since mounting.
I ordered them from COSTCO (Price Club) and they mounted them and inflated them with nitrogen.

The wheels (same as Beginner's) are Eagle Series 058 purchased through Discount Tire in a 16x7. They are uncoated, but I just touch 'em up with one of those Mother's polishing balls when I touch up the rest of the trailer. The difference in wheel clearance is negligible, and I've been able to continue using my BAL scissor wheel locks with no trouble. I've been extremely satisfied thus far.
