Tires for 1975 Argosy

I need new tires for my 1975 Argosy double axle (4 tires) Should I use passenger car or truck tires or regular trailer tires? Oh, and I'm going to buy the least expensive.

Currently it has what I suspect is the original Bias Ply 15" tires on it. I saved my 4 matching passenger tires from my car 225/75r15, but I beleive they would be a waste of time to put them on.

ST225/75R15, D load range. If you want to try LT tires, 7.00x15LT, or 7.00R15LT. DON'T use passenger car tires, they aren't rated for the load.

Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and taste good with ketchup.

For the 24' Argosy, Load range C tires will be very sufficient to carry the weight and give the trailer a smooth ride.

My daughter just found a set of LT tires for her 25 foot Tradewind LY. They wer LT tires, Load Range C, 15 inch and had a Speed RAting of 99 MPH or so. Remember, it is not additional load range you need but additional resistance to heat build up (Speed Rating) that you need. I willl be back home tomorrow and will let you know what they are.

You can get speed rated tires passenger tires that will give you the heat protection. AND you have to have the load coverage as well. Know the weight and then make sure the tires have the load capacity to cover that load and a little more for a cushion.

This will be a ST tire, (Special Trailer Tire) however that tire will not have the speed rating. Or the ability to dissapate the heat as well as a higher speed rated tire.

A LT tire (built for light trucks) can be had with the load capacity and the speed rating.

Ok, thanks. As soon as I get her back together, hopefully in 2 weeks, i'll take her to the tire shop. I need the info on the shocks, too. She needs shocks bad.
