Tire Shades

How many of you saw this listing on eBay?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

I was curious when I first saw it. The description said he had called the Airstream store and hese were no longer available. Really curious now, I called Zip Dee for info!
Well sir, they are still making them! Can be ordered direct from them. The taller ones for a two axle are $165, the shorter ones like were auctioned are $160.
Since the auction ended at $146.28, new from the factory is a very viable option for not much more.
Wow. Just because Airstream no longer sells them doesn't mean you can't get them! That's what I love about Zip Dee!

I think I will stick to $20 for 4 white genaric tire covers.

I can spend the difference on Zip Dee chairs that are not cheap in the same color. They also make for a nice gifts. http://www.zipdeeinc.com/Accessories.html

Ahhhh........ but.... but........ but....
they used those magic words: No longer available!
Which is probably true as far as Airstream is concerned.
But Zip Dee says they are!
I, too, think the price is a bit excessive for my tastes.

Elizabeth,

Great and timely thread for me. I'd love to take advantage of what you already know. Is Zip Dee selling those in "pairs" for $165 or are they $165 for one. I say thinking that $165 is high for one.

A second question...my trailer has the slides not the snapes....do you know if they come in the slides?

I will certainly do my own research if no one knows, but if you do, please share and I'll be glad to take advantage of it. After all that is exactly what this forum is all about.

Thank you in advance!
Mark.

Hi, folks,

I have a Zip-Dee tire shroud on the street side of my Excella right now because that side gets more sun. Let's not lose sight of the fact that this is a piece of grey canvas that has some snaps in it. I love Zip-Dee, their products, their service, and their courtesy, but this is not a specialty product. If you live anywhere near a coast or a big lake, a marine canopy maker can cut, stitch, and sew a similar piece of canvas for you, and I doubt it'll cost anywhere near $160 . . . for the pair.

I understood the price quoted was per pair with all the findings and directions. (short 29 inchers were $160, the longer, I believe 36 inchers were $165)
I know Linda said they came with the snaps to install!
Best bet if you want the ones to match the awning would be to call Zip Dee, talk with Linda in customer service, and see wht she has to say.

For me, I think they are neat but..... a little on the costly side, and i'm not sure I like the look well enough to invest in them. I do think I would really prefer a solid black or solid silver... the black would blank out the area, and the silver would blend in.....

But on the other hand, my hubby loves hanging new original options on the silver tube! What can I say? LOL He's still trying to sneak up on some solar panels he knows abot, apparently factory installed originally on a unit we know about....
