tire question

Went with a straight Dexter axle, 6 bolts, for my 55 Safari, which raised the trailer about 3" and I'm not liking the look. I have no problem going back to a drop axle. but is it possible to go with a low profile tire to bring it down a little. The tires that are on it are 225 75/D15 and I'm going with new anyway.

I would think that low profile tires would be really hard on your trailer. Very little sidewall to provide some cushion. AS are really sensitive to hard rides.

You can also have the springs recurved if there's room underneath; this can take some of the arc out of the leaf springs and lower the ride height.

I don't think you will find too many choices. Your current tire is the 225/75R15 which means it is a 75 profile or 75% as tall (bead to tread) as it is wide.
You can look through various tire manufacturers and try to find a lower profile such as 70 or 65.
You can go with a smaller tire such as the 205/75R15 which my rough calculation says it is approx 1.2" smaller on diameter or .6" on radius which would be axle centerline to ground.
You could consider 14" rims.
