Tire pressure monitor

With all of the concerns about maintaining tire pressure, and overheating I am giving some thought to getting a tire pressure monitoring system. Has anyone looked into this, or actually purchased a system. I'd really be interested in getting some input.

I've seen some recommendations in the forum for this system: Doran PressurePro Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems : Doran Manufacturing LLC I was wondering about this like you, so I'm glad you started the thread.

I have the SmarTire which has some advantages (temperature compensation). I like it, has already saved one tire (and maybe avoided worse)

I was looking at Intellivalve:* The Smart Tire Pressure Monitor System but they don't have one yet that would include trailer axels. I'll look for the SmarTire because I'm looking for one that will also monitor the tire temps.

Smartire is available from camping world -

SmarTire Tire Pressure Monitor - Camping World

I imagine that the quality of installation will vary as it seems to with camping world.

You could install the system yourself - except maybe for the the sensors which are strapped to the rim inside the tire. Good directions are available.

Pressure Pros

We utilize Pressure Pros for the Airstream as well as the tow vehicle. We're very happy with the system as it's warned us on two occasions thankfully averting damage to the Airstream. We now pay a bit more attention to our max speed and air pressure; especially in hot weather. I leave the monitor attached to the dash, checking the TV pressures periodically.

I bought mine here: Welcome to Bob Dickman Tire Center - “The RV &SmarTire Experts” - Smartire RV Systems

If you are going to self install I would consider purchasing from them. Paul is an expert on the system and support and service has been excellent.

I have had the PressurePro for about a year now, and am very pleased with the quality, accuracy, and dependability. I use the sensors on both the TV and the AS, and consider it a must for single axle trailers.

Thumbs up Pressure Pro...........

............is simple, accurate and easily programmed. I use one every day for my service van and add the 19CCD when on the road. It's a very versatile system! Overlander 68 is a Pressure Pro distributor, and I have installed close to 30 of these systems on large Mohos and 5th wheels. No problems or complaints.

Some of my clients have the Smart Tire facatory installed on their rigs and they have told me they are having problems reaching the factory with tech problems. Also, if you have a problem with a unit, the wheel must be taken off the rig and the tire removed.

With the Pressure Pro, you just remove the sensor on the end of the valve stem!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cla p:

BTW, The Doran system is simply a re-badged faceplate purchased from Advantage Pressure Pro.......the manufacturer.

Tpms

I bought a Pressure Pro and shortly there after suffered belt seperation in it beginning stages but was able to pull over to the curb on the first one before the tire fully deflated and on the second one in the campground on one tire that had lost air, but in servicing the deflated tire noticed the seperated belts (irregular tread surface) on the adjacnet tire.
They do not measure temperature but do not require breaking down the wheel to install, you remove the valve cap and screw on the transmitter/sensor.
One of the sensors (on the other side of the trailer) developed a leak and I had a replacment within days.
Excellent service and tech support.

lewster,

The Overlander 68 in our membership directory knows nothing about this. Was that a typo?

68Overlander has only posted once to the forum. Are you sure that's the distributor?
