Tire Pressure Monitor

Just ordered these tire pressure monitor/alarms that just screw onto the valve stem and transmit remotely. David T. from this forum has them and can give first hand info on reliability. I'm always worried about what's going on with the tires behind me and this will give me real time data. I'll let you know my experience after I get them. I got the 8 wheel setup so I can monitor the tow vehicle as well.

Question

Well Tin Hut are you ready with a report about your experiences with the tire monitor system.

Iím thinking of a 6 wheel version and hope you have only good things to say about yours.

rubber or rigid valve stems?

Tin Hut,

Do you have rubber valve stems or the metal, rigid ones? Does this product specify whether or not it's OK to use with flexible stems? I could see where centrifugal force could cause rubber stems to fail prematurely due to this...

I'm pleased with the system. I have had a couple of issues with one or two of the sensors on the tire not being picked up consistently. I've talked to several that have the system though and they haven't experienced this. Also, on RVNet there are several users posting their favorable results. On the Sub I have the stock rubber stems. I just replaced the stems on the CCD with metal valve stems and had the tires balanced with the sensors on them. I like the idea of knowing immediately if I'm losing pressure in the tires behind me. Their customer support (PressurePro) has been good and they're working with me on my sporadic problem.

We have 3 members of our unit that have them installed. I have bought a set and will have them on in time for my trip to Florida in Feb. One of the members had a tire go slack on him on his way to Florida in November and the monitor caught it. Its easier to pump up a tire and get to a service area than to lose one on the highway. They are not cheap but neither is body work or fires. We had a member that lost his trailer and his van due to a fire caused by a flat tire.
