Spare tire

Here is another way to mount a tire under the front. I got a spare drop down winch at a local u-pullit wrecking yard and mounted it across the frame. I welded a short 3/4" pipe with a old 1/2" drive socket in the end and drilled a hole in the front of the trailer. Now I just use a 1/2" drive ratchet to lower it to the ground. I do plan on putting a safety cable under the tire because I think it would be better than trusting just the cable.

I still have the trailer in a way that it is hard to tell. But it only hangs down below the frame about 3 1/2" so I do not think it will be a big deal that close to the hitch. We are just up the hill in the Shingle Springs area, maybe will wave as we pass someday. Dave

Sorry it took so long to get the tire size. I was in the middle of painting the frame yesterday. It is a 700 15 standard tire that is on both of our trailers. The outside is about 7" from sidewall to sidewall and it is on a stock 6" rim. Let me know if you need any more info.
