Tire forum subgroups?

Hi All,

With 367 threads and more than 5000 posts in the Tires forum, it's not very practical (Practical in terms of time required) to find useful information in the form of somewhat recent statistical data, advice and reported experiences. Some potential subgroups that come to mind are:
1) User experiences with makes, sizes, and industry ratings
2) User experiences with dealers
3) Appropriate Load Ranges & Plys
4) Tire Care (Blancing, Pressures, Guages, UV Protection, & Other)

Others could probably suggest more.

Many of the existing Tire threads mingle several issues with not much focus on the initial subject. This makes the search for insight into a specific issue much more time consuming with many dead ends. Having the subgroups might reduce some of the mingling of issues with resulting better focus.

Best Regards,
Walt

Thanks Walt for the suggestion. Way back in the past the running gear forums were all one great big forum. So the exiting groups have been created several years ago. Yes there are 5000 posts and some forum groups have over 7000 post to them. Breaking this or any forum down to smaller groupings would create more work. The mod staff is all volunteers and getting more staff becomes an issue. As it is now users post unrelated posts to different forums. Creating sub-forums means greater work in moving posts to the actual stated topic.

And we can still consider youer request.

Hi Action,

Understood, and thanks for the response and thoughts. These forums are a lot like a free lunch and I am grateful for that.

Walt,

It was discussed among the moderators and no one was in favor of creating a sub-forum on tires.

This would create more work for not much gain.
Many other forums fall into the stats for this forum so a challenge to those forums could be made.
The data can be gleaned from a search using the search key.
And typically the same questions are asked over long periods of time so usually one can find the answer.

However the biggest reason would be your ability to ask your specific question via posting a new thread. Posting a new thread question is the easiest way of getting the data you want. Just fire away and there are many (well potentially thousands) willing to respond to your inquiry.
