Tire Date Code

Where on the tire is the date code located? I'm sure it's in the really small hard to read part.

Hi, if the tire was installed correctly, the DOT date code will be on the inside.

Of course, the hardest part to see. We bought our AS the end of July, the tires were installed new in 2010, but I'd like to find the production date, so now I can. Thanks at least now I know where to look.

The first two numbers in the Manufacture Date above refer to the week of the year and the last two numbers refer to the year of manufacture.

So "0304" means that the tire was manufactured in the third week of 2004.

Hey Pete, sometimes a "new" tire has been sitting on the dealer's shelf for quite some time, so install date really doesn't mean too much. Check that manufacture date. And don't pay too much attention to thread depth. A brand new looking tire can actually be old and essentially a time bomb.

There is a ton of tire related reading here on the forums. Enough to keep you busy for a long time. Heck, a long, long time.

It sure was good to meet you and Phyllis at HH. Looking forward to next time.

Wow, now that's the whole enchilada!

I just finished another one of the post apocalyptic type books I'm fond of reading. It always make feel better that my world isn't that bad - yet.

As I was saying I'm in need of new reading material and VOILA! Look what has popped up. All I could ever want to know about tires. For a brief moment I thought I'd need to refill my sleeping pills. zzzzz

Kidding aside, thanks very much for this link. It is exactly what this tire knowledge deficient AS newbie needs. And to think Christmas is still months away.
