Tire Cracks

I have a Q about tire cracks and the locations .....

What causes a tire to crack in between the tread? In the side wall around the bead?

(Other than replacement after the event or covering the tires) What can be done to prevent tire cracks in the tread? Tire cracks by the rim around the bead?

Does tire protectant (sprays) help at all?

Drying out is the main issue, as the tires age they leach the chemicals that keep them pliant into the concrete or blacktop. The longer they sit the more they lose. Once cracking starts it can't be stopped. To prevent, some rest the tires on a board underneath.
Also you can use protectants that prevent the UV damage from the sun and that will help the other smaller cracks that develop. I have been trying the Turtle Wax brand tire wax with UV, it has seemed to help keep mine looking good for awhile with reapplication every few months.
I have also seen the tire "sun block" sold at Rv suppliers.

what does the board do? are you saying that heat from pavement accelerates this process? so parking on turf or other bare ground would be preferrable? hmmm..

Does the spray stop or slow the "drying" process?

My trailers are exposed to the Phoenix weather. Read that as lots of sun. I have recently purchased tire covers. (Although my boat trailer tires have always been covered with some old vinal material draped over the tires) The boat trailer is parked on 2"x4"x8" paver bricks and the Airstream is parked on gravel.

My boat tires cracked around the rim by the bead. My Airstream tires have cracked in between the tread. What is difference in usage for the two trailer that has caused cracks in different locations?

After I replace the tires what can I do differently?
