Tire Covers for 91 Excella 1000 34ft

Good Morning Everyone,

We put 6 new tires on the Excella last week and think I should go ahead and get some tire covers. It appears (at least to me) that here are snaps on the side of the Airsteam where a cover could be buttoned to it. I have search both here on the forum and Google but haven't turned up anything besides the covers that fit over the tires.

So my questions is, is there such a cover that snaps to the trailer and if so where can I find one?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Jody

The PO may have had cover custom made. Any canvas shop could make them.

Now for the question why. Do you cover the tires on your car?

Very common on older 34' trailers.. They are made by Zip Dee.

Snap-on Covers

Damon, thanks for the quick reply! I'll give Zip Dee a call and check on those. Howie the primary reason I would like to cover them is because (unfortunately) the AS is in storage for extended periods of time and this is an effort to keep things clean.

I searched several sites and it appears there is a debate over the benefit of the tire covers so I guess once I get a price from Zip Dee I'll decide if they're worth it to me.

Thanks again guys!

My understanding is, if the tire rolls under weight on a regular basis, elastomers migrate to the surface, keeping the tire from cracking. When they sit this migration does not take place and checking starts to occur....and sidewall cracking from there.

Just called Zip Dee and the tire shades run $258 for the pair... Something to add to the list but have a few other things I have to address first.

The PO on the Overlander I had made a set with snaps that were not visable as the snaps were located on the inside or the wheel well. They looked very nice.

Getting some thing over the tire will help with blocking UV which will take it's toll on the rubber tires in the long run.
