I am looking for spare tire carrier for a 65 Overlander. I would prefer one that attaches to the a frame if possible. Maybe somewhere underneath. We are getting a little tired of loading and unloading it everywhere. Any suggestions? What was used originally?
My 63 overlander has a place for the spare tire on the A frame setting up against the front of the trailer body. I am not sure how much room is available on a 65.
Thanks guys. Before we polished we had the spare tire between the rig and the tanks but that caused some scratches and now that it's polished we would like to avoid. The space was pretty tight on ours for some reason. I think we are going to do Inland RV Center Inc.
The only spot I have seen spare tires mounted is under the trailer up near the front. The belly skin is cut out in the box that is made by the framing elements, and the piece removed is fastened up onto the underside of the floor.
Then, this device, as seen in our own Classifieds section, holds the tire up against the newly-moved skin.
The owner seems to have done quite a nice rejuvenation of an original Airstream one.
Someone on here is getting ready to manufacture aluminum wheel covers for the tire and wheel that goes on the rear bumper. It also comes with some channel iron support that ties into the bumper. I think its a original Airstream copy. The price seemed reasonable.
It was posted about a month ago but I have no idea where the thread is.
