Spare tire storage options

Has anyone looked at or tried a cable system like most trucks n SUVs have. I was thinking you would bolt the cable mechanism directly thru the floor. Granted I'd have to measure to ensure the bolts were under the goucho. The crank up/down mechanism could come out the front by propane cylinders... Or Thursday the floor under goucho. (Pending what type I pulled from salvage yard.
Thoughts/watch outs/no way!!!

Leverage by the locking bar on the OEM under slung mount makes the rack very easy to use. I do not see a reason to reengineer or over engineer such a simple effective design. Few moving parts and no unnecessary holes thru the floor. Sorry but you did ask for opinions.

AWCHIEF... No worries... Opinions is what I was looking for. I agree that the stock bracket is simple and easy to use. I, like many just toss the spare in the back of truck... That's getting old. I had to remove the spare on your MDX the other day at thought... Hey this looks like an option for the airstream. Hence the post...
The other reason was I read a post a couple weeks back where some folks were worried about the latch n pin that secures the unit...again the reason for the post.

It's a bit rude to ask for opinions, then obliquely trash people for giving them.

The stock bracket is excellent. There's a pin and hasp system, I have no concerns at all about it opening unintentionally. My one gripe - and this would likely be a problem with any such system - is that I sometimes have to raise the front of the trailer to get the spare out, depending on how the trailer is sitting alongside the road (sigh - I have too much experience with flat tires).

Skater,
I had no intention of throwing anyone under the bus... Sorry if folks think this when reading my comment " nice to see someone thinking outside the box..."
This was another way to say " hey nice alternative to using the conventional/stock parts available.
Again sorry

I like your idea for a cable suspension. The primitive stock bracket is awkward and hazardous.
