Spare Tire

I need to know what size wheel , or kind- Chevy, Ford etc., will fit. Not planning on running a long way on it . Just something to get to the tire store. Thanks, Steve

Go on three

With a dual axel Soverign you could easily make the trip on three wheel/tires....short trip right?

Have 4 Out In Barn

Probably out of your vicinity but I have 4 bias ply tires on wheels out in the barn which need to get gone (I upgraded to aluminum with GY Marathons )

But you'd have to come to North Georgia (Athens Area) to get 'em!

It's a 6 lug, 5-1/2" bolt pattern (15" wheel), but should be rated at 2K lbs or better.

spare

I always carry a spare. Most folks I know do too. Its a pain, I know, but when you need it...you NEED it. I toss it in the back of the truck.

Until recently....we were running Goodyear Marathons....so, OF COURSE we carried a spare ....and, wished we had more than one! When we switched to 16" rims and Michelins, we also bought an extra rim and tire... I just wouldn't consider traveling without a spare ....but, that's just me.

Although you may be able to travel a short distance on 3 wheels, you certainly cannot travel very fast! And, if the tires you have on your trailer are old ones, keep in mind that you are putting all the weight on that one tire.

Most of the Chevy-Ford-Xler rims with the proper bolt hole circle have a center hole that is just a bit too small. Also, most of the automotive/truck type rims do not have the weight rating required for your trailer.

One other complication is the offset. Airstreams require a "O" inch offset.

Some of the old Nissan and Toyota 4X4 rims might be a match, though.

I do. Even though I have a dual axle. It came with the trailer mounted underneath.

I carry the spare that came with the trailer and an additional one in the back of my TV. If you like, call Mid Tenn Airstream, Kevin, he'll hook you up with the data and sources in our part of town.
