Spare tire

[BB 55 Bubble]

Dose any one have an idea on placement of a spare tire. I will be dropping the belly pan on the trailer and doing a replacement skin underneath the trailer. Any ideas a custom installation under a 55 bubble? Pictures would be great.

wow, on a Bubble? I don't know. My spare on my Excella is under the very front, just behind the banana skin. The whole square between the frame rails is recessed. I haven't looked to see if there is a skin up in there, maybe with insulation above it.

Neither of my 18' Caravel or 27' overlander has a spare location/mount. I carry the tire in the back of the truck.

Hi:

Can you fit the spare tire through the rear hatch door and into the storage compartment underneath the crossways rear bed? Many spare tires in 50s Airstreams were carried in such storage compartments; neat, clean, out of the way yet accessible when needed.

Oh yea it will fit in the rear hatch, but with 2 kids and a wife storage can be at a premium. It can be put like this: a 25 lb kid needs at least 300 lb of equipment to be happy, and my wife’s idea of roughing it is the Hilton. To answer your question yes that is an option but I was trying to get creative with its placement. I do not want to put it on the bumper where it is currently located, and I was fishing for options. I attached a picture of the rear hatch area with the door removed and you can see the holder there with some tubing from a lawn chair that where welded in place to hold the tire on. I am quite certain that the tire will not fit in-between the frame rails under the trailer after I removed the flooring, there is not enough room. Any Ideas?

Ahhhhhhh.....YES!!

I remember it well. My wifey's idea of roughing it was a 40' Monaco Dynasty diesel with a generator big enough to run BOTH roof airs and a few other things.

Gotta love it!!

Needless to say, I commune with my 19CCD on a solo basis when I hit the road.

OOOPS!....almost forgot the question!, the spare is mounted in a recess in the belly pan just behing the A-frame in my CCD.

Many people have moved their LP tanks slightly forward, and mounted the spare between the tanks and the front of the coach, above the tongue.

I just put mine inside the trailer on th floor and when I get to were I'm going I just slide it under the trailer. I would like to put it in the truck box but not enough room when the Harley is there.

Carry the spare in the tow rig. Not much room in a Bubble to start of with.

I have a tri axel and one spare on the trailer,I wanted two. I opened up a eyebolt and hooked it under the rail in the back of the pickup. The tire is hard mounted there. Its a way to carry a spare if you haven't enough room on the trailer.

Hello ,
the idea of putting the spare behind the lp tanks is a good one if your bubble doesnt have a battery box there. in the rear storage area with get rid of the storage area you need .On my 60 trdwnd That rear compartment stores the fresh water hose and vintage regulator setup for it. The original aluminum jacks and my container of misc sewer couplers adapters etc. It is reeally a good place for that . I have the front battery box so the spare goes in the back or the travelall on the rear floor . ileave it in there all the time so I wont forget to load it when we go !!
