Replacement of Tires, Bearings and Brakes.

What would be a fair installed price for four LT 225-75-15 non-asian tires, replacement of all brake pads and bearings on a 1993 25 foot Excella by a repair facility? Just trying to figure out costs. THANKS!

$320 per wheel for a new brake backing plate with all new components, a new tire mounted and balanced, and all labor charges should cover it.

Edit: maybe a few $$ more with the cost of new bearings and seal.

Each labor market could be different. Los Angeles will be a lot different than say Youngstown.

RV labor rates can be as low as $75/hr. and up to $125/hr.

Look at Eastern Marine the 10 x 2 1/4 are on sale for $26.00. It take about 1/2 hour per backer plate to install. While off another 1/2 hour to clean and pack the bearings, most dealer will do that they will just pack them dirty in 5 mins. If the bearings are packed right you need new seals about $5.00 from a supply house or $15.00 from a shop.

Tires and balancing depending on what you buy.

The important thing is to jack up the trailer when completed and rock the wheel while holding at the top and bottom. You should feel a slight movement. No movement they are TOO TIGHT and you will burn a bearing.

I made my guesstimate based on the thought that a tire, mounted and balanced should be under $200. Etrailer has brake backing plate complete for $56, and a bearing kit for $12. Around here labor is about $100/hour, so a shop should be easily able to do one position in half hour. So roughly $310, so I said $320 plus maybe a little more for parts markup, etc.
