Radial or Bias ply Spare tire?

Hi folks,
Im still putting the finishing touches on the 2005 classic 34 that I just bought and planing to use it over the 4th. It didnt come with a spare. I can get a wheel and tire combo for $100 but its bias ply. Does anyone know if it matters if I used a bias ply or do I need a radial? Will the trailer track properly for towing in an emergency? The trailer came with the goodyear marathons.

From what I remember with autos, mixing is a no no since the tires exhibit different characteristics when rolling. Maybe not as important when towing but something that I wouldn't take too lightly. My personal opinion is to stick with the same tire type with your spare.

First of all, you don't really need a spare.

In the event of a tire failure, simply remove that tire and wheel and continue on with your trip. Have the tire repaired later.

Since you have a tri-axle trailer, pulling it on 5 tires is not a big deal.

Slow down however, to perhaps no more than 50 MPH.

I had read that I could run without one tire but it might stress me out a little. I guess id like to get one so I could finnish my trip and wouldnt have to worry about slowing down and finding somewhere to fix it or buy a tire. We go to resorts alot and we have very limited time for vacations. I think id like to just swap it out and keep going to maximize the time off. Do you think a bias ply would be ok until I could fix the old or buy a new tire.

Different tires have different diameters.

DO NOT mix any other tire with those that you have. If you do, you more than likely will add or subtract from the proper weight impressed on each tire.

To do so, can cause a sway condition.

Thanks for the info. I decided to spend the extra money and go for a radial of the same size. I dont want 8,000 lbs swaying around behind me if im trying to make good time on the highway.
