I'm debating the purchase of a tire monitoring system. Thought it might be a good idea as I travel alone. I found this setup at airstream supply .com
Anyone have experience with these?

Not sure about the quality of this one, the reviews on Amazon are mixed. Cheaper there as well. It is made by Hopkins 30100VA nVision.

I think I paid about $100 less than that for my Dill system and have been happy with it.

I bought the Tire Tracker system in late 2015. I have a few trips with the system and it has worked flawlessly.

I have TireTraker too. Had one sensor fail on me and they replaced it quickly under warranty. I purchased extra O rings for the sensor caps when I ordered.

We put the money towards a set of the most reliable tires we could find which were Michelins, then decided if we really needed a trailer tire monitoring system (not yet). TPMS may not warn before a blowout suddenly happens and tears up the side of the Airstream, excellent tires are a better investment.

Happy with my TST system. I have yet real world test it under slow leak or blow out conditions and hope I never do.

I have the Tire Pressure Pro system and it was a great investment. When I blew a tire a few years ago on I-40 in Albuquerque, I was able to pull off of the road and stop with zero damage to the trailer. It also gives me the ability to verify the tire pressure when every I press the button.

There seems to be a pretty large gap in pricing between these systems. I wonder what the not-so-obvious differences are?

I also have the Dill system. The transmitters are the lower part of the valve stem and therefore mount inside the wheel. This can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. They do not place additional stress on valve stems, as they incorporate a metal valve stem, but you do have to dismount the tire to replace them when the battery dies. I'm not sure whether I can replace the batteries or if I have to buy new transmitters or send them in for rebuild. I'll check that out in 5-6 years when it's time if I still own the trailer. That's about when I should replace the tires due to age, anyway.

The system has already saved me more than its cost. I ran over some unavoidable debris on an exit ramp in Atlanta. About a mile later, the system alarmed. I was able to pull over, slow down, and exit prior to any damage being done to the wheel or trailer.

I'm sold on having one. From here on in, it is basically free.

I have the Dill TPMS and I am mostly happy except...
The power cord plugs into the bottom of the unit limiting mounting options even when hard wired.
I would like it better if the power cord came into the back of the unit like the antenna.

I purchased the Pressure Pro system right after I purchased my trailer. It gives you a sense of security that that nothing bad is happening to my truck or trailer tires. I would not tow a trailer like ours without it.

I too have the DILL TPMS system, and agree with m.hony. The monitor could be designed better, but it works great. Even though we are running Michelin LT tires on our Pendleton (came with 16" Michelin's on Sendel alloy wheels) I like the concept of knowing when there is a problem.

The plan is to change the batteries whenever we replace tires. I bought the system from TireRack and had Discount Tire install the stems. I had some concerns about dismounting brand new tires but all went well. While the wheels were off I put on a set of Centramatic Wheel Balancers. While researching I found some forum members who use them and swear by them. But the deciding factor was an old timer I met at Jackson Center who has driven over a million miles (delivers buses for a living) and he highly recommended them.

I'm not sure you can replace batteries in the Dill TPMS tire sensors.
I think after 5-7 years or when you get new tires you get new sensors too for about $27 each.

Bought tmp66 3 years ago. The monitor and transmitters work well. Charging monitor is important and changing batteries 2 x year.
Week ago 20 miles from leaving home the unit sounded slow leak. From 50 to 38. Stopped at tire discounter. Tire quickly at 18 psi with an old key stuck in thread. Patched tire and on our way.
The TM is much better than just kicking the tires.

There are lots of threads on this topic in the forum.

General consensus I found, succinctly put:

For single axle trailer, you will know you have a flat tire right away, due to the extreme change in driveability. A slow leak is discovered when driveability changes due to extreme loss of pressure or during a periodic tire pressure check when stopping.

On a tandem axle, the driveability may not change significantly, due to the other tire/axle, with a potential of ripping up your trailer with the flapping flat tire as you continue along unknowingly.
