I have never scaled my safari over 6k so the xl has more than enough weight capacity for mine.On the last trip out averaging 70 mph the trailer tires were running about 10 degrees cooler than the truck tires. Two of my truck tires can support the entire weight of my truck-so no the truck tires are not too small for the app either

Derating my four LTX (P)235/75R15 XL Michelins to 1,985 pounds from the sidewall rating of 2,183 pounds at 50 psi means that the four tires will support 7.940 pounds. The two axles (each rated 3,600 pounds) will support 7,200 pounds.

I went across the scales at just under 5,900 pounds on the trailer wheels with nearly all the stuff and a full fresh water tank of 39 gallons.

The math works out to about a 26% safety margin for the tires at derated load capacity. There is about a 1.5" gap between the edge of the tires and the aluminum wheel well trim.

Here is a reference from a respected tire builder.

This reference provides insight into numerous industry standards.

Read the information on page four. If you are knowledgeable of tire safety standards you will have read much of this information before. Mostly in your trailer’s owner’s manual.
