Phoenix Tire Shops

May need new tires and rims. Will be traveling south from Cottonwood Route 17 through Phoeniz/ Tuscon Route 10. Next NM to El Paso. I travel on 90 in Texas. Any suggestions on a good tire shop to buy new tires/rims for a 27' Overlander? tom

Any Discount Tire is a good bet. Have had good luck with each one that I have gone to.

Tire Shops

Thanks, I have seen Discount Tires in Prescott too. I'll have to check my tires before leaving. Tom

Discount has a ton of stores in the Phoenix area as well as most of the Southwest. I would call ahead to make sure the store you visit will have the stuff you need when you get there.

I was checking out tires for my '66 at the Discount Tire on Thomas Road and East of 32nd Street. It is the store nearest to me. They don't usually stock the tires. However they can get them in a day.

I believe Discount is like most retailers, they need some business so they are willing to price drop to get you to buy now. I had my wife's car in earlier this month for a flat repair. The tires had about 5000 miles left on them and had warranties on them. I kept saying just fix the one that is loosing air and under warranty untill they made me a deal for 4 new ones that I could not walk away from.

So know that the tire price has some flex in it.

As Richard points out Discount Tire Stores are plentiful. Not only here, across the country too. This is especially useful for warranty issues. I have a Costco tire store very near me. And for some tire sizes they are less money. (May by a buck or two) However if I need service they are not as plentiful and don't open until 10AM. In past situations if I have had a tire issue it was late in the evening. So I put on the spare and I am camping out at the tire store so when they open I am first in line. Doesn't work so well if the store is 100 miles away or they don't open until 10AM. So I like Discount.

Is it likely to get the same tire for less money? I am sure it is possible. Not by much though. And they do price match. The service with stores nationwide means something to me.
