I have lost a wheel and didn't realize it till I reached my destination.
I had a buddy tell me that he had lost a wheel and didn't realize it till daylight the next morning.
Trailer doesn't lean or anything.

New Wheels also:

I also got religion for my 2013 Flying Cloud; dumped the Goodyear Marathons, acquired the Eddie Bauer 16 inch wheels (5) and Michelin LT.

Reminds me of an elderly couple we met at a Flying J one evening when stopping overnight on our way south.

They were traveling in a REALLY old and run down fifth wheel, towed by a matching pickup and they were en route to Mexico.

We chatted out in the carpark for a few minutes before we all retired for the night.

Next morning as we were about to depart, I saw the gent doing something with one of the wheels of his trailer and I walked back to see if he needed a hand.

Turns out that while doing a walk around before leaving, he had just found that one of his wheels was missing! He had no idea when or where it happened!

All that was left was the centre part of the steel wheel - the wheel had completely fractured all around just outside the bolt ring and just left the centre portion of the broken wheel still bolted to the hub! He was in the process of removing it to put on his well-worn spare when I arrived on the scene!

Pretty scary, but he didn't seem all that surprised or concerned !

Hopefully the errant wheel didn't cause any serious problem for other drivers when it rated company! It was on the curb side at least!

Brian.

How much does a set of 4 Sendel wheels and 16" Michelins run? Is there much savings purchasing from one of the sources mentioned vs locally in Atlanta?

Our new T05 Sendel wheels were delivered today, purchased from trailer-wheels.com for $360 delivery included. I dont know if they were available locally. A local tire dealer is getting the Michelins and installing them. The price was better than what I found online.

By there time the five SenDel T03-66655T aluminum and one SenDel S62-66655G galvanized wheels were here, the Dill TPMS 1506-453 arrived and the five Michelin LT225/75R16/E LTX M/S2 tires were mounted using all the above but one "spare" aluminum wheel, I have about $2,240 in the wheel project.

Whatever I get for selling the four OEM aluminum and one steel spare wheels with the five GYM tires will lower than acquisition cost to less than the factory charge which would not have included the Dill TPMS installation.

Cost of new 16" Michelins.

In Sept 2012 we bought four new Michelins and Sendel T02 wheels mounted and balanced from Discount Tire for $1500. I put them on the Airstream myself and sold the four originals (wheels perfect and tires excellent) for $500 so our cost was $1000.

The original 15" spare tire is still in the trailer unused and more than likely won't be, but will work fine if it ever is.

Since the Michelins hold air pressure and the GYM tires tend to loose air pressure, I presume you check the spare for air before every outing so it would be usable if needed. There is a remote fill air hose that one can attach to the spare so you do not have to crawl under the trailer to check air pressure.

I haven't noticed my Goodyear Marathons loosing air-
From October till January, through some temperatures in the teens, the pressure has remained constant-
49.5, 50, 50.5, 51-
Apparently my digital tire pressure gauge only reads in halves and wholes.

CAUTION! Tredit and SenDel Wheels.

I just requested pricing from Tredit for the T03 wheels listed on their website and they came back with $92.50 plus shipping, which was great. However, when I asked if they were SenDel wheels, the answer was:
"These are modeled after the Sendel T03 wheel, however they are manufactured by another company. They are identical in weight capacity, paint scheme, and style."
and further "We are a source for Sendel and TireCo wheels, and we still carry 8-10 other styles of wheels from Sendel as well. However, that style is no longer being used by Tredit from Sendel and we have since used the last of that stock. Our Oregon location has a few of the Sendel T03 wheels left in this size, otherwise the replacement wheel is all we offer currently.
Lastly "The replacements we use now are from China like the Sendel wheels. The item is a YF03 VS the T03 from TireCo."
For a few bucks, certainly prefer to go with SenDel and made in USA. However, price diff and shipping costs to GA might push up the price a good bit. Tredit has a branch not far from where I store my trailer, thus would be no shipping cost.

Are the SenDel wheels in fact made in USA? If cost becomes a factor for SenDel T03, what are other quality wheels people are using? I'll bet factory is not using Sendel, but China knock offs.

The President of the SenDel wheel maker company said in an email to me last spring that he was having major issues with Chinese knockoffs that were of inferior quality.

He suggested I order them from Discount tire as they had the real item. I paid $103 + $10 freight per wheel plus local sales tax.

It was my understanding that Sendel wheels came from China.

I tried to source some locally here in Canada but could not. I planned to go with them when converting to 16" simply because others on the forum seemed pleased with them.

In the end I wound up with other wheels (also from China as so many are) that had the same specs as the Sendels.

I am pleased with the look of them and hope they will serve me well - time will tell!

Brian

Switz,

Curious, what is the country of origin for your new wheels?

Gary
