New tire recommendations for a 27' Safari

It's time to replace my ST225/RT15 tire on my 2002 -27 ' Safari.
Discount Tire recommends Carlyle (sp) tires with a "d" load rating, however I have heard they don't go flat, they just explode. Any recomendations for an exceptional tire - money is not a factor. I hate replacing tires as the semis go by. Thanks, Chris - Austin, Texas

There is a very good thread on the forum about tires. I have attached a link to the link. You will well informed, if not over-informed after you go through the attached thread.

Good luck with your decision process on tires. I have Maxxis D's on my AS 25 now. I had Carlisle tires on my last trailer. No problems with either sets for me. I may go with 16" LT's on my next set of tires.

Hey Chris, after reading about 30 hours of threads on tires, I just bit the bullet and put BG Goodrich 16" LTs on my 27 Safari. I went back and forth trying to decide but after some great counsel from many of these ASers (that are far wiser than I can ever hope to be) I went to new wheels and tires. I just went came to Austin this weekend to stay at McKinney Falls State Park and they pulled great. Good luck on your quest for tires and get ready to know more than you can imagine about tires. I love this forum. Great advice---
Oh, I bought mine at Discount Tire in Kerrville. Great guy there by the name of Matt.
