Talking Need a soft tire cover for front-mounted spare tire!

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me where I can find a silver spare tire cover that's soft? Vinyl? Reflective material? We finally moved our tanks forward and mounted the tire between the camper and the tanks. FYI, the tire is not attached to the trailer, it mounts backwards so the back of the tire cover will be what faces out. Therefore I would love not to have to get a cover that drawstrings! That would look very messy.

Thanks for the help!

I would look for a commercial upholsterer, explain what you need and have one sewn out of an outdoor vinyl to your color choice. Probably not much difference in price from all the made-in-China specials out there, but will be of good quality.

Wallmart, Amazon or just about any auto store has tire covers. All you need to know is the diameter of the tire before you go shopping. Nothing special about them and no reason to spend a lot of money on one.

Virtually all RV dealers have vinyl spare tire covers, about $15 as I recall. If you want a silver one you could probably use one of the vinyl paints to change the color, as most of them are white.

Lou, you are reading my mind! Late last night I pulled the trigger on this exact cover. I will post if it's any good. Really wanted silver since the tire now sits in the front!

Looking forward to your review. My spare sits behind the tanks and am considering the same if I do not find an aluminum solution.

Friends: You've inspired me to get my lazy carcass under the hitch, pull that spare tire out and check it out thoroughly. Nothing's more neglected in all my worldly possessions than my spares and their wheels. I'm afraid a cover would put my lowly spare even more out of sight and mind. Think I'll just shine it up.

Did you receive the cover? What is your opinion on the fitment and quality?

Should get the cover this week

After "operator error" with PayPal, I realized I've been waiting two weeks for something I didn't order!! I must say that their customer service is awesome, Ali responded to my request to see if my order had been placed immediately, and was so helpful in expediting my request. I will post my initial opinions of the quality and then give an update on how it lasts! It's so odd to me that no one carries silver, I would think that silver would be one of the more common tire cover colors since it's such a common car color. ~d
PS - pic of the spare tire set up in the front. We got the diagram for this idea from a lady on Airforums, what a great idea!!

Update - the extreme terrain cover is great!

Got my silver cover today for the spare, it is great! Beyond the fact that it is steel-plate pattern (I'm a girl, I don't get the appeal but my electrician husband likes it), it is awesome. It is very heavy vinyl fabric that gathers at the back. Because our tire sits backward, we cut a slit in the center so we didn't have to put it on the wrong way.

Extreme Terrain, by the way, was a pleasure and I would buy from them again! I made a mistake on the first order and I got an immediate response from a super friendly customer service rep (Ali) who helped me to expedite my order. Great experience.

Details:

J18122 - VDP 27 In. - 29 In. Spare Tire Cover, Diamond Plate, Silver (Universal Application) - $34.99

Extremeterrain.com

Thanks, all, for your advice. I hope this helps others! PS - the cover looks a little gathered in the pic because it just came out of the box. A little sunshine and it will even out.
