I got around to checking my tires today. Out of 5 tires only 2 are subject to the recall. The other 3 have a DOT code beginning with B7 rather than B3. All 5 have a date code within range however. I called Michelin to be sure the B7 ones were not recalled, and they confirmed that was the case.

Before tire replacement, check the tread depth in multiple locations on each of the four trailer tires that are on the ground. If a couple have worn down more than the the other two, place the new tires in those "more wear" locations and then the set might wear out together.

There's not much wear on any of them. They only have 4711 miles on them. The funny part is, the spare is one of two to be replaced. It has zero miles.

I am planning on putting the two new ones on the rear wheels and if I can find a more worn one of the other three, I'll make that the spare.

What I though would be a good deal is turning out to be a PITA. However, not doing it is not an option. If I kept the recalled ones and one of them came apart and damaged the trailer, I'd have no recourse. (I would say it is possible even my insurance would not pay, if they knew the details).

You got that right! Any excuse to NOT pay a claim is more profit and the "adjuster" gets a bonus award. The client gets the shaft.

Just got the recall letter today. I replaced mine in July of 2012 and I remember they were manufactured about 6 weeks earlier. I have to go down to my storage location to verify, but my gut is telling me that these will probably in the recall.

Just home from getting the five Michelins mounted on four Aluminum and one Galvanized steel SenDel wheels with Dill TPMS senders. Unfortunately, out trailer is still parked outside at the factory awaiting a few parts before it can be released from production.

Has anyone talked directly to Airstream yet about getting replacement tires through them and if so what was their response.

I have received the recall letter twice. I haven't checked to see if any of our tires are subject to the recall. I guess I should start checking now.

Could 2 tires have the same DOT Production Period?
Am I looking at the right number?
I guess 2 tires could have the same DOT Production Period if they were manufactured on the same day?

I drove over to our storage place a couple of days ago to check on the Airstream and also look at the date codes. A 100 miles each way but made me feel better to see everything safe and sound.

Our trailer was built in April of '13 and had the 16" Michelin upgrade. Our tires were 4912 or 5012, so made about 4 months or so before the trailer was built.

A year newer tires would have been nice but I'm happy not to screw around with having them replaced.

We are fortunate: we will have three of the four tires replaced under the recall. The other is out of pocket but worth the cost given they are almost four years old and near replacement ( based on age) anyway.

We only have about 20K miles on the tires.

New shoes on our baby on Monday! Do other manufacturers warranty their tires as Michelin?

Since the production periods are weeks, every tire produced that week would have the same DOT number. That could be thousands of tires.

Just made good on the recall with five brand new MS2s. Production date December of 2013. Great shop took care of me, no charge replacement including road force balancing. One happy camper.
