Question Michelin 225/75R16 Defender Tires

Well--- it's that time again. I need to replace my tires. I have upgraded to the 16 in wheels and have had Bridgestone Commercial TA's for past 5 years. I have had good luck but wanted to put the Michelin LTX MS2 tires on my AS. I called Discount tire today to order them and they told me they were being discontinued. They told me the tires were being replaced with the Michelin LTX Defenders. They said same tire, just new name. So I called the AS factory. Nice lady but she told me she had no idea the LTX MS2's were being discontinued and knew nothing about the Defenders.

S000000 , my question is, has anyone had these tires installed????? I have a 2008 27 FB.

Thanks and I apologize if this has been addressed on another thread.

I have the new Defenders on my new 2017 Ram 3500. I had the LTX MS2's on my previous truck and liked them very well. Michelin needed to update the tire to stay a step ahead, that's what they done and the Defender is the result. I would have to think that if you liked the old tire, you would have to like the new one even more?

I have Defenders on my Tundra, almost 20,000 miles, just like the LTX MS/2 I've previously had. Great tire!

Michelin 225/75R16 Defender Tires

The difference is in the rubber compound. The new Defenders are a bit harder, should last longer.

What size tires on your Tundra?
The OP could stay replace with the same BFG's he's had for 5 years or go with something else like the Firestone TransForce HT LT225/75R16.

Discount Tire told me the same story about a month ago but admitted they could get them when I told them Tire rack had the LT225/75R16 115/112 load range E tires. So I don't know what is going on with Discount Tire. I just sent an Email to Tire Rack confirming they have the tires.

My 2016 Tundra has LT 265/60 R 20 tires. There aren't a lot of load range E 20" tires out there.

You're getting some answers for tow vehicles but it sounds like you're looking for answers on your trailer.

There was a thread on the Defenders used on trailers that started as a thread on 15" tires but I believe veered off in to 16" versions too.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f438...xl-144555.html

It's long but there may be some good nuggets there for you.

I just put defenders on my Honda last week.
225/70-16.
They're expensive, but I wanted Michelins.
My first impression is that they wander on the road more than my previous OEM tires (GY wranglers). I find myself correcting steering a lot more. I don't know how that affects a trailer.
