Marathons got us!

Headed to CO and had a blowout just after getting into NM. Put spare on and had another blowout in about 20 miles. Drove to Moriarity with one shredded tire. I called Good Sam and ordered tires but found out they sell you what they can find. Stopped at Chevy dealer and they recommended two local tire shops. The first on was a joke. Mostly used tires. The other shop did not have a brand I had heard of, but what choice did we have. Based on his recommendation, I got 4tires he recommended. Master...something. He has been selling them for years. Mostly farm/horse trailers. They were careful and did everything I asked for. Torqued all the lugs, double checked everything and out the door for $400, incl balancing and putting the spare back in its cradle. Long day! JRs tires if you are in the area.

Little damage to both sides of AS. Mostly cosmetic and can be repaired by me so it is not visible. Very relieved that it was not worse. I will get under trailer as soon as I have time and will post pictures. One thing that I don’t understand. I felt the first blowout at the same time the pressure monitor started squealing. My spare still has rubber valve stems and I was afraid to put the TST pr ensure sensor on that stem. With one sensor removed, the display kept chirping every time it sensed the missing sensor. Our two Yorkies did not like that and continuously barked. So, I turned off the TST. When the second tire blew, I felt nothing. Both were front tires. If a passing motorist had not pointed at the tire, I would have kept driving. By the time I stopped, only the beads and about 2” of the sidewalls were still on the wheel. So rubber dust is on the back of the AS. Go figure.
