Load range D?

I just notice today that my Goodyear Marathon tires are load range D. Shouldn't the tires be load range E?

Only if you wish to punish the trailer with shock and vibrations.

Airstreams "LOVE" a soft ride.

It will pay the penalties if you stiffen it.

Goodyear's site shows the Marathon ST225/75R15 LRD is good for 2540 lb per tire at 65 PSI. As long as your actual weight minus tongue is less than 10160 you're within their specs. On their site they don't list an E-rated Marathon in 15" but I thought those existed.

Load Range Ds are 8plys and load range Es are 10 ply. Our 2005 25FB came with GY Marathon Ds. They were absolute junk. We went to Maxxis Ds. They were better, but not great. We ultimately went to 16" LT Michelin Es. They work the best.

Lucy now has 90,000+ miles on Load Range E tires, and has not fallen apart yet, and she is even towed by a one ton truck.

If switching to 16's, what does the wheel look like? Where do you get the wheels? That seems like the thing to do. Then what do I do with these wheels? Maybe add some bling to a cargo trailer? No, that won't work. Cargo trailer has 5 howl wheels...

Hi Brian,
I know you have answered this before but what PSI are you currently running in the 16's.
Regards,
Joe

The wheel that Jackson Center offers for the 16" option is the SenDel T03SM. If you google it, you will find several sources. I've seen mention here that some may be counterfeit.

T03-66655T 16x6 6/5.50 +0 Offset 4.25 Center Bore 3580 @ 80 PSI

Photos are from the SenDel website.

Load range D1 Pirelli

Has any one considered this tire as a replacement for 15 inch wheels:

Pirelli Scorpion ATR
LT235/75R-15/D1 110S

Due to a low enough GVW, I replaced the OEM GYM tires with five LTX (P) 235/75R15 XL tires and reused the four factory aluminum wheels and steel spare wheel. We have a much heavier GVW trailer on order and will replace all five OEM GYM tires with five Michelin LT 225/75R16E LTX M/S2 tires mounted on five Sendel T03-66655T wheels.

Once we see the actual individual axle weights when loaded for the road, I could safely run the Michelins at the 65 psi setting of the GYM tires if both axles are splitting the load.
