Jacking a 1962 safari for tire changes

The weather outside is frightful but my new wheels and tires are delightful and I want to put them on NOW. Would it be okay to jack up the trailer using a hydraulic jack on the rear bumper? I'd have to dig out the snow to get under it and it's wet too. My newly polished baby moons are crying out to be installed on new rims.

You'll probably put a crease in the roof.

A 1962 Safari has a Henschen axle.

That axle is mounted to an "axle mounting plate," which protrudes downward from the frame.

Place your jack on that plate, rearward of the axle.

Thank you. I'll look for that mounting plate in the spring. I just thought the rear bumper looked to be an intregal part of the frame and everything would lift.

This forum is great but I wish someone would write a comprehensive vintage A/S guide. There isn't an owner's manual for this model and I'd love a technical manual. There is more to tires/suspension/brakes that I'd like to know. I have to add a whole new braking system too. Oh far away.
