Is a ST225/75R tire the same as a 7.00-15?
I have 7.00-15LT tires, Load "C" tires on my 68 Globetrotter. Should I replace with load "D" rated tires? Also I am reading that LT tires are not the best way to go. The tires on the coach are in excellent condition but am concerned about their weight carrying capacities.
Love not to spend the $ but, certainly will to keep it safe. If I need to replace, will the ST225/75R fit properly? Thank you

Bryan,
Based upon my experiences...You should use radial only with the wheels designed for radials. If you were to try and keep the original steel wheels, the radial would not be a good choice. Slippage is an issue from what I understand. Somewhere on here is a thread on that topic of going from different load rating as well..
Back to your basic question concerning the ST225/75R..
IMHO,
I see no reason why that size couldn't do the job for you..Certainly better than "LT" which are not really recommended for trailer use~
ciao

I would go with the ST tires. They designed for trailers. Stiffer sidewall I guess. Use the LT tires for your tow vehicle if you can.Rob

The ST225/75R15C tire would be what you would want, unless you want to replace the wheels, too. There is a thread that discusses a catastrophic wheel seperation problem when going to load range D tires after having load range C tires on the wheels.
The ST225/75R15 is roughly the same size as the 7.00/15 tire, within a quarter of an inch or less.
Also, the ST stands for Special Trailer, they are built a little differently, as well as having a little more UV resistant compuonds so they don't weather check as quickly as standard tires.
As far as using the radial tires on rims that were not designed for radials, I have not had a problem, but there is always a first time for everything.

Also in that thread they talk about split rims, something you do not want to put D rated radials on. Check out the thread and Inland RV's comments/pictures on rim seperation and you will see what we mean.

Rim width?
Do I have to be concerned with my original rim width when shopping for tires. I will opt for the BIAS PLY ST tire Load Range C. Are the original wheels non-standard? Thanks everyone!

As long as your rims are OEM (original equipment) for your trailer, and they came with the 7.00/15's, you should be fine.

Thanks Terry. I bet they are original. They have the original baby moon hub caps. Appreciate your reply.
