And don't forget side to side and front to rear weight variation. The tires on a trailer do not carry the same amount of load.

I love this site! I just went to michelintruck.com and then navigated to Reference and then Load & Inflation Tables

My 16” LT225/75R16’s were right there ... confirmed that I’m good with running 65 lbs cold, which heat to ~70 lbs. Perfect. I set my TPMS to alarm at 60 (LOW) and 85 (HIGH). Perfect.

This is also a good time to point out that we are supposed to check our lug-nut torque before each trip ... according to my manual, is 110 ft-lbs (aluminum) or 100 ft-lbs (steel) rims. I haven’t been good about doing this as often as I should.

Good luck...

Rule of thumb says that you should avoid getting more than a 15% pressure buildup. That indicates the tire is running too hot. At 65 psi cold, 15% = 75 psi.

We tried to order these tires today and was told they are discontinued. How do I found out what replaced them?

Thanks

I just navigated to michelintruck.com,
Then to Tires and Retreads
Then to Tires
Then to Size
— scrolled all the way to the bottom and third from bottom:
Highlighted the LT225/75R16
Then click “Search”
Only one tire comes up: the “XPS RIB” ...
Once it comes up, click “Details”

I have no idea if this is the new tire or not, but it sure looks like it’s the only alternative... I then viewed the specs and they appear to be the same as my LT225/75R16. Compare the specs and let me know if you determine otherwise.

Also, I checked the news/press releases and didn’t see anything in there either. Let us know what you discover.

Regards,

ALCOA Wheels

I did find one other post on the Michelin site that warrants sharing (it was under “Manuals, Bulletins and Warranties”)

https://www.michelinb2b.com/wps/b2bc...eel_Family.pdf

MICHELIN® TECHNICAL BULLETIN
May 21, 2015
This Technical Bulletin is being issued following the Alcoa Wheel Notification #2015-053, dated 05/21/2015, which is attached.

Can someone tell me which wheels are on the 2017 Classic? Thanks, Rich

Same tires and numbers I use on my 25.

There's your problem right there. Try Michelinman.com and you will find Defender LTX's in an LT225/75R16. The XPS is a commercial tire used mostly by fleets who are more concerned about cost per mile than anything else. (The XPS's can be retreaded!)

Thanks again CapriRacer. Can you advise on time2play’s question about phase-out and replacement? Thanks, Rich

I’ve searched that site over and can’t find a chart for defenders, only ribs. Michelin online help says rib is the only chart they have???

It doesn't matter the make of the tire, the load chart is the same. I don't know why they specifically call out the XPS on their chart, but if you go to - say - Goodyear (page 44) and look for the LT225/75R16 chart, it's the same! You can look for other brands of tires as well - same answer.

Note: Another Michelin quirk - they did it by axle, so the values are doubled for singles and quadrupled for duals!

Short version: Tires are standardized

Long version: http://barrystiretech.com/loadtables.html
