Goodyear Marathon ST225/75R15 LRD

The original tires on our 2006 model year 30' Classic (build date in late 2005) were Goodyear Marathon ST225/75R15 LRD tires with a date code of xx04 (I don't remember the week).

Since we are the third owner, I do not have an accurate number on the tire milage. However, based on conversations with the second owner, I estimate the milage to be around 5,000 miles.

The tred on all four tires appeared to have essentially no wear. There were no signs of cracks of any sort on the sidewalls of any of the tires.

I discussed tires with AS, and found out that they are still installing the above tire during manufacturing. My local Goodyear dealer checked with his supplier and stated that these tires are currently being manufactured in the USA.

We have elected to continue with the Goodyear brand, and had four of the Goodyear Marathon ST225/75R15 LRD tires installed today. The original tires were run at 65 psig, and we will continue to run 65 psig.

Hi neighbor. We are over in Walton County. I'm glad you had such good luck with your Marathons. We have an '05 25FB that came with the same size Marathons. Our Marathons were awful. We had three separate catastrophic tire failures (in the first 12,000 miles of use) on the highway before switching to Maxxis. It was so bad, I would never trust anything Goodyear again.

I have a 2005 Classic 30 that I bought used about a year and half ago. When I checked the date on the Marathons, I was surprised to find that they were week 7 of 2006.

Wonder why they would have been changed so soon?

I think I will run them maybe another year and then change them. I had Marathons on my last (non-AS) trailer, and three of them flew apart on a trip!

Totally my fault I am sure, as they were at least ten years old. One came apart badly and when I looked closely at the others I saw their tread was just starting to delaminate. I was stuck to buy some weird brand of chinese tire from a rip-off tire place in Texas! (And was glad to get them on short notice!) They were still on the trailer when we sold it the following year

The original Marathons had lots of tread, and no indication of any sidewall cracking - I have since learned that age alone is an important factor to monitor no matter how good the tires may look.

From what I have read on this forum, I think that of I can buy as set locally my next tires will be Maxxis. I am wondering if I might be wise to move to the next load range up as maybe an added safety feature. Maybe there is a down side to doing that? I expect they will cost a bit more and that doesn't bother me, but maybe they might give a rougher ride?
