Goodyear Bias Ply Tires

Does Goodyear still make a Workhorse 7.00x15 bias ply tire? I've been reading posts and looking at members' websites that feature them, as of last year. If they don't, what is a reliable bias ply tire brand?

I've been doing my research and I want to put bias ply tires back on the Sovereign. The one thing I've found in my research is that it appears that the 7.00x15 6-ply no longer exists, unless someone has different info.

Please don't try to convince me that radials are better than bias ply; that's not the point of my thread.

I recommend Kumho 351 tires. They're available in either 12 ply rating or 14 ply. Max load 3030 lbs at 115 psi.

You'd need new 14.5 inch wheels, but they fit nicely in the wheel wells because they are only 28" diameter.

Tow-Master (Greenball) makes a 7x15 LT bias tire in a "D" load rating. I have been running on then for a few thousand miles with no problems. I bought mine at Discount Tire.

Mark, I have the original mag wheels, so I don't want to change wheels, and 12 or 14 ply tires seem way overkill, but thanks for the suggestion.

Richard, did you notice a difference in ride, going from a Load Range C to a D?

My trailer had Carlisle 7x15 bias D's when I bought it, so there was no difference.

Gotcha, thanks.

FWIW, I did some hunting and apparently, as of 31 OCT 08, Goodyear no longer manufactures bias ply tires for ATVs or Trailers.

I wonder why.

I know you don't want to hear this but don't put bias tires on your Airstream they will destroy it. The Goodyear Travel Trailer Bias Ply's that Airstreams came with in the 70's had a very soft ride for a bias ply but still not close to as good as a radial. LT bias ply tires are bruttally stiff. We occasionally have trailers traded in that have new bias plys on them and we toss them.

If you ride in a trailer with bias plys and then in one with radials you will never go back to bias plys.

Beyond the ride the radials do give you a shorter stopping distance espessially in the rain. Good ones pick up far fewer flats the list of benefits is endless. What has given radials a bad name is the number of poor quality radials on the market.

You're right, Andrew, I don't want to get into the radial vs bias argument.

I was able to find Goodyear Workhorse 7.00x15 8-ply tires for $153.80/tire, and that was wholesale price....not worth it. The other brands I found are made in China....Alpha, Sampson, DLT Supermax, Highway Master, Nanko and Dynatrac, which I have on our horse trailer and love them.

If anyone else has a recommendation for bias tires, I welcome your opinion.

Tires

Continential Tire makes a Vanco tire that has interesting specs (good Speed Rating), however, they have no dimentions posted anywhere. I have emailed the company for a listing of the dimentions on their tires.
If they will fit (Outside Diameter and Maximum width) they would be a good alternative and they come in Load range D for 15 inch rims.

Yokohama makes a great 7.00 x 15 bias ply tire.
