Ever heard of a TRANSIT tire ???

I was at my local tire guy today to get one for our car. I was asking his opinion on using LT tires on trailers. He had no objections and showed me a Transit tire, 10 ply, E-rated tire at 80 psi. It showed a weight rating at around 2900 lbs. ( if I remember right ). That would be more than enough to handle our larger AS's. Never heard of this brand and was just wondering ?????

Thanks all.

PS: Before you ask. Yes, made in China.

Carefully check the country of origin and who the parent company is of that no name tire. The Chinese are reportedly changing company names very often to not comply with our safety specifications. They build a bunch of subpar tires and then change the name so there is no recourse if there are any issues.

I'm a firm believer of the old saying " If it looks too good to be true ...... "

If you ain't heard of it, don't buy it. Imagine getting 500 miles from that tire dealer and having a problem....forget about it. Get a good set of Michelin LT's in 15 or 16" D or E rated and then don't worry. You probably have 15" wheels and for your Excella, I really recommend you look into a new set of 16" wheels and LT's from Michelin. Yes, it is an investment, but it goes beyond just a peace of mind, believe me.

A transit tire is a "single use" tire intended for use only once for the transport of a mobile home from the factory to its destination. They are capable of heavy loads, but do not have deep tread. They are cheap which makes them attractive. Don't put then on your Airstream, please.

Sounds like a sales pitch, there are no bargains out there, you get what you pay for.
