No I have not had it weighed yet. I'm still putting it back together after putting in a new subfloor etc... I'm at the point where I'm close enough to done that I will buy tires.
I'm taking them off one at a time + the spare to be sandblasted, painted then have tires mounted one wheel at a time.
Kind of a pain but as mentioned above, then no one else is touching it.
You have all given me a lot to think about concerning the tire brands.
Right now the trailer has a really, really old set of Sears tires. I'm guessing early 70s. Believe it or not the PO was still towing the Caravel up over the Mackinac Bridge with them. Oh and a floor that was 80 percent gone at the perimeter.
Thank you all for the information!

Without weighing the trailer you will be missing some data to make a tire size/loading capacity decision.

If the axle capacity is 3700 #s, I would want the load capacity of the tires to be about 4200 to 4300 pounds or about 2130 each. Tires with a load capacity of greater than that is a waste of money. (In my opinion) Tires with less load capacity than that may be service issue down the road. Then adjust the inflation pressure for the actual load.

As to brand .... I am not as brand sensitive as others are on this forum. I usually make my decision based on the data supplied and bake in my own reserve factor. You need to make the decision on brand if that is important to you.

I didn't really want to buy online.
Its your money! Buy what you want, not what a Dealer wants you to buy. I'm sure that there are plenty of other Dealers that would be glad to sell you a set of Michelins!

ST tires (such as the Carlysle brand) should NOT be adjusted for load, but should be inflated (cold) to their max as posted on the tire sidewall.

Have a set on my 2015 bunk. Bought the tires at Discount Tires then brought the wheels with GYMs to them. They removed the GYMs and mounted the Nokians without question no issues whatsoever.

Happy black Friday. I just ordered the first of three Michelin LTX M/S2 (P)235/75R15 108T for the Caravel.
My shopping for today is done. :-)
It will be here Tuesday. They will mount and balance for 150 each. Seemed fair to me & a local dealer.

The Michelin tires are the ones that I wanted.
I went to another dealer locally and talked to him about Carlisle tires, he could not sell me on them. He personally had two that the tread peeled off of. (boat trailer)
I'm not taking chances though and will have a TPMS as well.
Thanks for all the help on both the tires and the systems that monitor them.
This forum is the best.
