I've been watching this and other threads recommending a switch to 16" wheels with Michelin LTX tires. I have a 1971 23ft tandem axle Safari. 2 years ago, I purchased a set of 4 new 15" alloy wheels and Goodyear Marathons from a guy with a new Airstream. This was before I learned about the issues with the Marathons. I'm considering upgrading to Michelins, but want to stick with the 15" wheels. I found that it is possible to get the LTX M/S tire min 15".

I understand one gets increased clearance with the 16" and likely a higher load rating. However, the clearance is not an issue for me and from a load standpoint, my 1971 is considerably lighter than the new 23ft units. Are there any reasons I should not just stick with newer 15" Airstream wheels I already have and simply upgrade the tires?
