Biased vs. Radial tires

I have been running Carlisle tires for three years with about 12000 miles on them.
I had one delam and it trashed the bottom of the trailer. Does anybody have some thoughts on going back to biased tires. Something that won't cause so much damage to the trailer.

I have a friend in our unit that uses bias ply tires only for that very reason. He seems to have more tire failures than those of us that use radial tires, but in the time I have known him (about seven years), he has not had any damage done to his trailer from the tire failures.

He claims it is the heavy and strong steel belt that does the damage to the trailer when the tire comes apart, and it makes sense.
