Anyone use a InfraRed Pyrometer?
I have an InfraRed pyrometer left over from my kart racing days. Thought I'd take it along next week to track temps on the new Michelin LTX M/S 16s @ 80psi on my International 19.
We expect to drive in ambient temps at or near 100F. Does anyone have suggestions on how to use the temp data on an Airstream single axle in hot weather?

I have one, and tire temps down south in mid July can run above 110 on my '69 TradeWind. As long as they are running within a few degrees of the tow vehicle's tires and your two tires are about the same temp, everything is pretty much running the way it should be.

Thanks. Is that 110 ambient or on the trailer tires?

Yes, keep in in the center console and use it at each fuel stop.

I would worry less about the actual temp and concentrate more on the range between different tires, if you have one running noticeably hotter than another one I would be concerned. I would check hub temps too. FWIW I have seen tire temps in the 125* range on a 100* day after a long run at 70mph.

Expect the sunny side to be a few degrees warmer on both the TV and the trailer.

The tires themselves will run above 110 with the ambient temp in the 80s.

With temperatures in the low 90s Friday, our tires were running at 115-120 degrees all the way around after highway speeds, as a point of reference. Love the laser thermometer.

I check the tires and wheel bearings at every stop when the quick walk around is done before remounting the TV. I look for a basic uniformity in the temperatures. Odd man out gets a closer look.
