Any ST trailer tire that gets positive reviews?

The brand choice in ST tires seems to be limited and I have yet to find positive reviews on any. Is there a brand that stands out as far as quality. I've stuck with LT tires for my Airstream and never had a problem but now I need to replace some Goodyear Marathons ST 215 75 14's (they are seven years old but look like new). Lots of bad reviews on them ,has the quality gone down in recent years? The tires will be on a single axle trailer and I'm thinking about switching it to LT tires. Would that be the best move?

You might be running into marginal load ratings. I chose the Marathons in a load range D for that very reason.
In restrospect, I would have bought 16in wheels, and then used a load range D truck tire instead.
I am not sure that tires in the 14in size come in the proper load ratings for your trailer.
On the other hand, so far I have not had any trouble whatsoever on both my trailers, both running Marathons.

OK. A quick, non scientific, mini review.
Put a set of load range D Marathons on my GT 3 years ago.
These are 15s on Airstream alloy rims. No problems to date. In my opinion they handle much better than the bias truck tires that were on they before. No surprise there, being radials. Biggest improvement is during braking.
They hold air all winter long. Sidewalls still look like new. Checked the balance this spring and one only changed about a 1/4 ounce.
Paid $86 apiece so I think I've gotten a good deal for the price.

I'm happy with my Marathons after four years, and the PO told me that's what he used - and he took it to Alaska every year.

I don't understand, you said you used LT tires, but then you say you're replacing 7 year old Marathons?

63Air, I too have had the tire bug and am leaning towards Maxxis tires, these do have limited distribution,but have good forum press on the open road forum. I haven't ruled out Marathons and was recently told that tires with a circle around the "s" were older marathons that did have side wall problems. I know this will raise the hair on many backs out there while they check tires. Let me also say this is hearsay and not confirmed. Darrell

Make sure you match the tire to the load. If you know the total loaded weight of your trailer and add like 10%, then get tires that are up for the job. Too many times I have seen tires that were overloaded and took the blame for not holding up.

I run Marathons on my Airstream(s) as well as my "get out in the woods" utility trailer. I have been very pleased. I've put many thousand miles on our last Airstream equipped with Marathons.

I drag the fully loaded utility trailer over some very tenuous, rock strewn trails and have never had a problem.

I have replaced my st 225/75/15 tire (D) rating with TITAN tires.
They are 225/75/15 load range (E)
There are 2 more side- wall plies. I had these tires on another airstream trailer with no problems.
I had a friend that had an S>O>B> trailer. The tire tread came partially off, it did $7200.00 damage to his trailer, thats why I went this route.

I've never had a problem with the Marathons, these are for my boat trailer. People have a tendancy to to really overload these, they figure if it fits in the boat you can haul it. When I bought my boat I was sure to upsize the trailer and tire size to account for any additional load I would place in the boat when traveling.
It sounds like the quality of the Goodyears is still Ok. I guess I am just a little paranoid about tires as I was lucky enough to survive a serious accident caused by a tire failure on a single axle trailer while coming home from a fishing trip a few years ago.

I've heard the Carlisle ST Trailer tires are second brand manufactured by Goodyear and sold through different line of dealers, but otherwise equivalent.. Kind of like Skyline selling Layton and Nomad brand trailers so they can have two dealers in every town...

Sold via Discount Tire Warehouse over internet, and also sold through America's Tire retail stores, and I'm considering them..

FWIW, I have Carlisle tires on my Caravel bought at Les Schwab Tires. Approx 7k miles so far and not a problem yet.

I've got 3 year old Marathon load range D on my 10,000 GVW 18' flatbed trailer. Great tire, did a 1000 mile trip with 9200 on the tandems at 70-75 mph, no problems.
