Wink

Love the blanket statements..."all ST tires are junk", "never use bias ply".

My blanket only covers our AS & boat trailer, both with the dreaded brand ST's.
I know nutt'n, I'm new here.

FYI: Discount Tires has stopped all sales of Towmaster tires because of the incidence of blowouts.

Seems to me if they stopped all sales of Towmaster tires because of the incidence of blowouts, they should stop the sales of ALL ST tires, because we know they all have the high incidence of blowouts.

Before we completed the purchase of the Towmaster tires we started this thread and called around for some advise. One of the places we spoke to was Discount Tire as it our usual tire store.

At that time Discount told us they would no longer be selling Towmaster tires. We asked why and Discount told us that they did not agree with how Towmaster was supporting the warranty on their tires.

For those of you familiar with Discount Tire they are very well know for supporting customers who have problems with tires purchased from them. (This is OHO based on our experience) Discount said they would make it right for the customer and then not be supported on their end by Towmaster.

That does not address your question about blowouts but just some input.

Our ST tires aren't junk, they're on another guy's SOB who uses it for local camping trips. We wanted the Michelin LTX M/S 16" for reliability on frequent long distance trips.

Our boat and utility trailers have ST tires and I'm comfortable with that.

Yep, I have them on a boat trailer and a utility trailer also....places where they won't do $7,000 worth of damage if/when they come apart.

Think we are the only ones that talk about ST tires? Take a look at these threads on a boating forum:
